Hello, my grub menu.lst got f-d up somehow yesterday (see attached file) I am not sure this is a grub bug or if it has something to do with ubuntu, I did roughly the following:
$ apt-get update $ apt-get upgrade // changed to dapper in /etc/apt/sources.list $ apt-get update $ apt-get upgrade // changed to edgy in /etc/apt/sources.list $ apt-get update $ apt-get upgrade plus a lot of extra activities that that compromised the system in ways I cannot fully comprehend, but I know for a fact that I am probably the most clumsy linux user in the northern hemisphere ... either way with the root device looking like this: kernel /boot/vmlinuz root=UUID=97b67f92-cd3f-4c56-b376-5c898b3a88f6 ro quiet splash rather than: kernel /boot/vmlinuz root=/dev/hda6 ro quiet splash Linux booted with a happy kernel panic message complaining about the VFS not working (or something like that) ... Have a nice day and thanks for caring / Best Regards Björn Lindberg
