Summary: various build problems with grub2 and x86_64 Project: GNU GRUB Submitted by: pi00100100 Submitted on: Sun 30 Aug 2009 07:44:45 PM GMT Category: Compilation Severity: Major Priority: 5 - Normal Item Group: None Status: None Privacy: Public Assigned to: None Originator Name: Originator Email: Open/Closed: Open Discussion Lock: Any Release: Release: SVN Reproducibility: Every Time Planned Release: None _______________________________________________________ Details: I'm trying to cross-compile grub2 SVN revision 2550 with the following configure arguments: --prefix=/usr --build=i686-unknown-linux-gnu --host=x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu --target=x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu (host system is i686 while target system is x86_64). I get the following error message: configure: error: platform "pc" is not supported for target CPU "x86_64" I then added the --with-platform=efi configure argument (my Intel motherboard seems to support UEFI). Now I get the following error message: ../grub2-2550/util/grub-mkfont.c:28:22: error: ft2build.h No such file or directory So I also added the --disable-grub-mkfont configure argument. Again, I get a different error message: help2man: can't get `--help' info from ./grub-mkimage help2man: can't get `--help' info from ./grub-mkelfimage help2man: can't get `--help' info from ./grub-fstest help2man: can't get `--help' info from ./grub-editenv make: *** [install-local] Error 126 I don't know a workaround for this last message, but I think it is due to the fact that the host system is 32-bit while the target system is 64-bit, so the target binaries cannot be executed. _______________________________________________________ Reply to this item at: <http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?27349> _______________________________________________ Message sent via/by Savannah http://savannah.gnu.org/ _______________________________________________ Bug-grub mailing list Bug-grub@gnu.org http://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/bug-grub
