Summary: GPT hybrid handover support for chainload Project: GNU GRUB Submitted by: gsutre Submitted on: Wed 21 Sep 2011 12:46:40 PM CEST Category: Booting Severity: Ordinary Priority: 3 - Low Item Group: Feature Request Status: None Privacy: Public Assigned to: None Originator Name: Grégoire Sutre Originator Email: gregoire.su...@gmail.com Open/Closed: Open Discussion Lock: Any Release: Release: Bazaar - trunk Reproducibility: None Planned Release: None _______________________________________________________ Details: When the top-level partition map is GPT, the chainload command should pass an hybrid handover structure, as documented in section A.4 of the ``hybrid MBR boot code annex'' [1]. Without this support, the chainload command is useless for GPT since the VBR boot code won't be able to locate its partition (even if it supports GPT).
