I recently spent a day trying to figure out why my theme was failing, until I
discovered that fonts in /boot/grub2/fonts are not seen.
After moving them to the /boot/grub2/themes/theme_name directory it works.
Seems very odd that the fonts directory is not searched automaically for
fonts. :
