Summary: Add support for "vmlinuz" symlink. Project: GNU GRUB Submitted by: eliptus Submitted on: Fri 08 Nov 2013 09:46:13 PM GMT Category: Configuration Severity: Major Priority: 5 - Normal Item Group: Feature Request Status: None Privacy: Public Assigned to: None Originator Name: Originator Email: Open/Closed: Open Discussion Lock: Any Release: Release: other Reproducibility: None Planned Release: None _______________________________________________________ Details: I'm currently using grub-2.00_p5107-r2 on Gentoo. I use a /boot/vmlinuz symlink that points to my default kernel, as generated by "make -C /usr/src/linux install". I'm currently using a custom GRUB config to use this. It seems a common enough use case, though, to add support for it to /etc/grub.d/10_linux or it's own script in /etc/grub.d/. By having to create a custom config, I feel I'm loosing the benefit of all the auto-detection implemented in /etc/grub.d/10_linux. So, basically I created my custom config by running grub2-mkconfig and copying the generated menu item but replacing the kernel path with that of the symlink. _______________________________________________________ Reply to this item at: <http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?40523> _______________________________________________ Message sent via/by Savannah http://savannah.gnu.org/ _______________________________________________ Bug-grub mailing list Bug-grub@gnu.org https://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/bug-grub
