Follow-up Comment #2, bug #41301 (project grub): Yes, the fault is not with upstream at all but with one of the Distro-specific scripts called "10_archlinux" BUT I do believe that a related issue is the fault of an upstream supplied script "10_linux" which is described in the linked Arch bug report.[1]
