Follow-up Comment #1, bug #47636 (project grub):

So I think the problem is that Grub expects the keyboard to be a USB 1.x
device when it needs to be USB 2.0. I tried:
> insmod ahci
> set prefix=(ahci3,msdos1)/grub
# note I forgot the /grub in original submission but you get the idea
> insmod ehci
> insmod usb_keyboard

Neither the G510 or my generic USB keyboard functioned at this point
(presumably because usb_keyboard doesn't talk to the ehci module), but no
booting issues occurred either. lsmod showed Grub auto loaded usbms with
ehci.

I also spotted Linux registering the G510 as a "full speed USB device" after
loading ohci in Grub.
