Details:
Most NVIDIA graphics adapters start with screen scaling enabled by default,
resulting in a thick black border around the Grub menu and distorted/unclear
fonts.
Screen scaling can easily be modified by Grub. I attached a patch for the VBE
module which adds support for it. I also attached before/after screenshots.
Successfully tested with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 Ti.

If you decide to integrate this feature, I suggest doing that by introducing a
user-configurable variable for grub.cfg that allows to set the scaling mode to
all known values (e.g. set nvidia_scaling=1). By default, I suggest Grub
doesn't modify scaling at all unless the user specifically requests it.
