Summary: Booting: GNU/Linux: partially incorrect information Project: GNU GRUB Submitted by: ing Submitted on: Sun 16 Oct 2016 06:09:31 PM GMT Category: Documentation Severity: Major Priority: 5 - Normal Item Group: None Status: None Privacy: Public Assigned to: None Originator Name: Originator Email: Open/Closed: Open Discussion Lock: Any Release: Release: 2.00 Reproducibility: None Planned Release: None _______________________________________________________ Details: 4.3.2 GNU/Linux It is relatively easy to boot GNU/Linux from GRUB, because it somewhat resembles to boot a Multiboot-compliant OS. Set GRUB’s root device to the same drive as GNU/Linux’s. AFAIK this is true only if the /boot tree is located inside the root filesystem. If it resides on a partition of its own, then that partition has to be specified as the grub root instead. _______________________________________________________ Reply to this item at: <http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?49365> _______________________________________________ Message sent via/by Savannah http://savannah.gnu.org/ _______________________________________________ Bug-grub mailing list Bug-grub@gnu.org https://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/bug-grub
