Summary: Booting GRUB entries with normal user keep asking for password Project: GNU GRUB Submitted by: redhat48 Submitted on: Wed 25 Nov 2020 05:59:02 PM UTC Category: Security Severity: Major Priority: 5 - Normal Item Group: Software Error Status: None Privacy: Public Assigned to: None Originator Name: Originator Email: Open/Closed: Open Release: Release: other Discussion Lock: Any Reproducibility: Every Time Planned Release: None _______________________________________________________ Details: After password protecting GRUB entries with command (grub-mkpasswd-pbkdf2) and appending the file (/etc/grub.d/40_custom) with user/password entries, the option (--unrestricted) is used in the file (/etc/grub.d/10_linux) as in (CLASS="--class gnu-linux --class gnu --class os --unrestricted") in order to enable normal user to boot GRUB entries without entering registered user/admin password. However, after recent upgrade of GRUB to version (2.04-12) on Manjaro Linux, now this (--unrestricted) option is not working anymore and GRUB is continuously asking for password on boot. _______________________________________________________ Reply to this item at: <https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?59543> _______________________________________________ Message sent via Savannah https://savannah.gnu.org/
