Summary: Grub failing with backtrace due to error in automatically generated config file Project: GNU GRUB Submitted by: joep Submitted on: Fri 18 Dec 2020 07:11:30 AM UTC Category: Installation Severity: Major Priority: 5 - Normal Item Group: Software Error Status: None Privacy: Public Assigned to: None Originator Name: Joe Pater Originator Email: 02joepate...@gmail.com Open/Closed: Open Release: Release: other Discussion Lock: Any Reproducibility: Intermittent Planned Release: None _______________________________________________________ Details: See line 135 of the attached grub config file - "root=/dev/mapper/fedora_localhost--live-root" is repeated over and over. This is causing a grub backtrace (can't remember what it said, I'll find it if it turns out to be important), which goes away when the repeats are removed. I suspect it has something to do with 'root=/dev/mapper/root=/dev/mapper/fedora_localhost--live-root' ending with 'root'. This has happened twice after my package manager (dnf) updated the kernel. When I re-run grub2-mkconfig, it produces the correct output, and I can't get it to make the error on-demand. I would imagine this is the sort of logic bug that becomes obvious when you re-read the code, but let me know if you need any more info. Grub version: 2.04 Fedora 33 Linux kernel 5.9.13 (although the config would have been generated on a different kernel) Joe Pater _______________________________________________________ File Attachments: ------------------------------------------------------- Date: Fri 18 Dec 2020 07:11:30 AM UTC Name: grub.cfg Size: 16KiB By: joep <http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/download.php?file_id=50506> _______________________________________________________ Reply to this item at: <https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?59717> _______________________________________________ Message sent via Savannah https://savannah.gnu.org/
