Summary: grub-install documentation is truncated or too succint Project: GNU GRUB Submitted by: eurbah Submitted on: Sat 14 May 2022 12:43:20 AM UTC Category: Documentation Severity: Major Priority: 5 - Normal Item Group: Documentation Status: None Privacy: Public Assigned to: None Originator Name: Originator Email: Open/Closed: Open Release: Release: other Discussion Lock: Any Reproducibility: Every Time Planned Release: None _______________________________________________________ Details: My current grub release is 2.06-2ubuntu7 from 'Ubuntu 22.04 Jammy Jellyfish'. I transfer this issue from https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/1479516 Concerning the documentation for 'grub-install' : Inside 'grub.info.gz' : - Thank you very much for chapter '4.1 Installing GRUB using grub-install' : This really provides useful information. - But chapter '23 Invoking grub-install' is regrettably truncated : It mentions only options --help, --version, --boot-directory, --recheck and --no-rs-codes. Inside the 'Manual page grub-install(8)' : Many options are listed, but the description is much too succinct to be useful. Can you describe in detail all 'grub-install' options into 'grub.info.gz' ? Can you fully replicate this information in the 'Manual page grub-install(8)' ? Thank you in advance. _______________________________________________________ Reply to this item at: <https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?62456> _______________________________________________ Message sent via Savannah https://savannah.gnu.org/
