Follow-up Comment #3, bug #64167 (project grub):
I tried the patch and the error changed in my reproducer from
./grub-fstest: error: cannot open `(lvm/sinavw-SYS1)/VERSION': disk
`lvm/sinavw-SYS1' not found.
to
./grub-fstest: error: cannot open `(lvm/sinavw-SYS1)/VERSION': unknown
filesystem.
which is likely to due using a truncated disk image here.
So it seems that the patch helps for my problem too.
