A regression since GRUB 2.06:
On Debian, after upgrading GRUB-EFI from 2.06 to 2.12 (dist-upgrade from
Bookworm to Trixie), loading initrd.img fails with a kernel panic. Reverting
grub* packages to 2.06 restores normal booting.
As a further test, I've tried booting with different Debian rescue media off
USB.
1) Booting with debian-installer Bookworm (GRUB 2.06, Linux 6.1) off a USB
stick works fine in both BIOS and EFI mode.
1) Booting with debian-installer Trixie (GRUB 2.12, Linux 6.12) off a USB
stick works fine in BIOS mode, but gets the same kernel panic as above in EFI
mode.
Hardware: ASUS P8H61, BIOS 4306 09/22/2013
The firmware version is the latest for this motherboard.
