I've noticed that certain changes to my own user require reboot. Others, which involve bringing previously non-Guix controlled user parameters under control of Guix, seemed to require me to remove the user from my system configuration, reconfigure, and then re-add the user. I'm not sure what nobody's GuixSD user configuration would look like. Neither is a good solution, but could you try them out?
