Dear Guix, I've been watching your project for a while but have become deeply concerned by the amount of paid/closed AI api wrapper packages that have been slipping through. The wrapper, even though open source, is existing solely to utilize such closed softwares, and seem heavily against the freedom philosophy.
Philosophy problems: 0. Not 'freedom to run' - Paid/trials to interact with the underlying service. and 1-3. While the wrapper itself is "compliant", we are not actually able to: copy, distribute, nor improve where its primary functionality is provided by, as its closed. We have no form of true control and are at the mercy of the provider. Despite being targeted for 'emacs-..', these are still heavily problematic: #1 https://packages.guix.gnu.org/packages/emacs-claude-code/0.7.1/ #2 https://packages.guix.gnu.org/packages/emacs-claude-code-ide/0.2.5/ #3 https://packages.guix.gnu.org/packages/emacs-agent-shell/0.32.2/ #4 https://packages.guix.gnu.org/packages/emacs-chatgpt-shell/2.30.4/ #5 https://packages.guix.gnu.org/packages/emacs-gptel/0.9.9.3/ I'm unaware of other offenders at this time, as these are a quick list I've compiled on my phone. Others seem more 'general' usage for local interaction. Since these are all 'emacs-', it seems the mistake of including these was likely unintentional. (Note that my frustration is not solely towards Guix, as I've noticed this in other gnu-approved free distros, such as Parabola. I may contact them separately.) I hope to see these taken down swiftly. Kind Regards, Samantha Glue
