I can reproduce this bug under X on Guix System. It seems to have
been a regression between Guix 1.4.0 and 1.5.0, because on a
1.5.0 installation,
$ guix time-machine --commit=v1.4.0 -- shell shotcut
gives a working timeline within Shotcut, but plain
$ guix shell shotcut
is broken.
