I'm not really familiar with the commands for for fetching and accessing individual objects so I can't be specific. I'm mostly just speculating. :-) But git cat-file seems like a good candidate once object have been fetched to the local repository. I'd suggest git fetch to actually transfer the objects from the remote repository, but I can't tell from the man-page whether it can be used for all types of objects or just refs... Regards, Fredrik
