That completely depends on the student. In general, yes, it ought to be possible. We have to carefully assess whether any student applying (if any) is a match to the mentoring time you'll have available. That means to start discussions early, and let the students show that they're a fit for the task you'd like to mentor, within limits, of course, because they'll typically also have other commitments right now.
