I had to admit my patch did not hit the point, because the matter is more complex than first meets the eye. A change set has now been applied to the git head. This issue must achieve a positive resolution of # ifconfig --up -i eth2 -A 1.2.3.4 (no output; '--up' must be pending until after iface selection) # ifconfig eth2 (multi-line output) # ifconfig eth2 1.3.5.7 -arp up (no output; in addition to address, NOARP and UP must be set) Everyone is cordially invited to craft more test cases.
