% uname -a
NetBSD xxx.utah.edu 1.6 NetBSD 1.6 (GENERIC) #0: Sun Sep 8 19:43:40 UTC 2002
[EMAIL
PROTECTED]:/autobuild/i386/OBJ/autobuild/src/sys/arch/i386/compile/GENERIC i386
NetBSD

% automake --version
automake (GNU automake) 1.10.1

% autoconf --version
autoconf (GNU Autoconf) 2.61

% m4 --version
m4 (GNU M4) 1.4.10

I get lots of other packages to build fine on this system:
/usr/local/bin currently has 1445 programs.

The last successful installation of libtool was this:

% libtool --version
ltmain.sh (GNU libtool) 1.5.26 (1.1220.2.492 2008/01/30 06:40:56)

A check of its build log shows, as I expected, "All 112 tests passed".
It was built on 4-Feb-2008. These tools are all older than that:

% cd /usr/local/bin
% ls -l automake autoconf m4
-rwxr-xr-x 1 beebe sysstaff 13415 Nov 21 2006 autoconf
-rwxr-xr-x 2 beebe sysstaff 233494 Jan 22 19:02 automake
-rwxr-xr-x 1 beebe sysstaff 399366 Jul 10 2007 m4
