Of course not, the lines at the start are SystemStartDElimiters.
But it is a bug, which I have fixed in 1.7 CVS.
Are you sure that it's fixed? I just tried with a freshly compiled version and the lines are still printed on the two first score lines of the second movement.
By the way, the grobs are called SystemStartBar and nothing else. The note you added to the manual has the same problem.
