Aha! I now realise that it is only lilypond.map for which I need the full path name. Presumably without it dvips finds the wrong one (i.e. the one for version 2.4)
Then, you probably haven't sourced buildscripts/out/lilypond-profile correctly, which also might imply that you get the wrong version of other files as well, when you use LilyPond.
