They come from extract_texi_filenames.py. It seems to assume that every filename supplied to it also has an associated directory - e.g. contributor.texi has a "contributor" directory under Documentation. It check whether the directory exists, and if it does, adds it to the search path. If it doesn't, it throws the error. It seems the options would be - a) don't bother with the error message; b) create empty directories of the appropriate name; c) something else...

Is there a significance to the use of the extensions in the texi files? (.tely, .texi, .itexy, .itely).
