I've now done some javascript stuff that extracts the language from the page name and automatically sets the text in the search box to be appropriate for the page language. I could put up a patch, but with the risk that it wouldn't be obvious how it works and would take time to test. Alternatively, I could put up a few pages on my own website that show this in action. Any preferences?
