I hammered out the code and the documentation for quite some time, and
while I am not sure that there is 100% code coverage in the testsuite, it
is certainly more comprehensive than it used to be.

I guess the telling factor will be how easily I can implement
multi-character extended arguments (a la ${{1}}) in the proposed
changeextarg that Paul wanted for use in autoconf, so that autoconf's use
of ${1} as literal text remains put.
