In addition to what Alain said I'd like to emphasize that it uses not
only GDBM. In fact, vacation uses whatever DBM system mailutils is
configured with (old DBM, NDBM, Berkeley DB, or GDBM). So the exact
answer depends on the underlying implementation. As far as I know,
at least Berkeley and GDBM are reputedly safe to use over NFS.
