In response to a Debian bug report, I'm looking at why imap4d isn't
locking the user's mailbox when it initiates a session.

I've tried using imap4d with the --external-locker=/usr/bin/dotlock
flag, but it isn't not changing anything. When I log into my account, I
don't get a jordi.lock lockfile in /var/mail.

On the contrary, pop3d does work as expected, even not using the
--external-locker option.

This is using mailutils 1.0 (but the behaviour is seen in older versions
such as 0.6).

Any help appreciated.
