failed to create TLS stream: Unknown error -87

Thanks for the modification that allows TLS specification for daemons in
inetd mode.  With this change I'm trying again to use mailutils for my
servers.  But when I tried to set up imaps this way, I got the error
"failed to create TLS stream: Unknown error -87".  So far I have got
nowhere in trying to understand the cause.  I can't even find the code
that generates negative error codes.
