Sure there is: Makefile: ``` SPACE := SPACE := $(SPACE) $(SPACE) $(SPACE) := $(SPACE) $(warning [$( )]) ``` Output: ``` Makefile:4: [ ] make: *** No targets. Stop. ``` I'm not sure where I learned this trick, but I think it was probably the John Graham-Cumming book, so it's probably relatively widely known.
