I've got a reply that questioned one small part of the patch, here: http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-readline/2015-01/msg00006.html That part was accepted, AFAIU. However, I don't see it in the copy of Readline that is kept in the GDB repository (which AFAIK was lately resync'ed with Readline). Was I confused? Were those patches accepted into Readline, and if so is the problem with the copy kept by GDB?
