Thanks for explaining that.  I suspect cc is still shipped for
backwards compatibility with ancient software that assumes K&R cc.

But in that case my suggestion still has merit.  HP can ship GCC (and
call it "gcc") without breaking the ancient software.  This will help
HP's users, because it will cause "configure" to do the right thing
when building software.

Mr. Preston, can you please make this suggestion internally within HP?
You have more pull there than a random outsider would.  Thanks.
