Hi Paul, Thanks for the notification. I'd be glad to try and test. The problem is I don't have a clue how to go about trying to patch and compile. I pull binaries down from a HPUX repository. If someone has the time to explain the steps and any compile switches I could try. Or I have a HPUX 11i v3 server you could access. But I'd have get authorization first.
The porting site only has tar 1.26 source and was put therer by a Francois Pinard <[email protected] whom I've included on this email. Francois if you are seeing this email would you be able to generate new HPUX 11iv3 binaries with this patch (patch is a separate email, if you'll replay I be glad to sent it to you. Thank you all for helping, Paul, Joerg, Nathan -----Original Message----- From: Paul Eggert [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Saturday, December 22, 2012 11:00 PM To: Michael White Cc: 'Joerg Schilling'; '[email protected]'; '[email protected]' Subject: Re: [Bug-tar] Issue with GNU Tar and HP-UX LVM v2.2 filesystems On 10/01/2012 08:10 AM, Michael White wrote: > What do I need to do to request a fix so GNU tar incremental will work for > HPUX? You already did it, by sending email to bug-tar. :-) I just now pushed a patch and if you like you can try it out from the git repository <http://savannah.gnu.org/git/?group=tar>. At some point it should find its way into a new release. Unfortunately it's not a trivial fix. I have not tested it under HP-UX (I don't have access to any such machine) so any testing you can do would be appreciated.
