I don't think we should tweak strtosysint as it's just following the lead of strtoimax+strtoumax. As far as what the user sees, I think the minor variation in behavior is OK -- it should be pretty obvious to the user what the actual problem is, regardless of whether it's called "out of range" or "invalid". So we should be OK.
