I would definitely prefer having patches and bug reports sent to this mail list, instead of using these trackers. Nevertheless, I do inspect them from time to time, to make sure nothing gets lost. Speaking about GNU tar patch tracker, among 8 issues listed there, three are assigned to me, and two of them are already taken care of. Six issues are still waiting for resolution.
