Hi Paul, Thanks for the help, it is greatly appreciated!! I was able to get tar to compile successfully, however there were still some error messages during compilation:

Also, as Dago pointed out there are some failures when running the tests:
ERROR: 167 tests were run, 7 failed (2 expected failures), 21 tests were
skipped.
The following tests are the ones that failed for me: 25, 65, 87, 161, 163. I
have attached the testsuite.log.
