Its very difficult to get oriented in the tar bug-reporting history.. Users can only send bugs to [email protected]. That however does not assign bug-id against tar component in GNU bug tracker (as is done for other GNU utilities [1]) and people thus keep (re-)sending duplicate patches, asking for similar enhancements and report the same bugs.
