    Is there a way to have the
    size of the margin function of the page (odd or even) ?

I haven't tried it, but consider something like this:
@tex
\globaldefs = 1
\bindingoffset = 6pt  % adjust as needed
\letterpaper
\globaldefs = 0       % not sure if this is necessary
@end tex


I tried to set the default margins so that they would work ok even in
the double-sided case ...
