Actually I only saw that afterwards, and then couldn't tell if it was quite related. (Nosing around I couldn't see where add_char extended the output buffer, so I wondered if my input had tickled a multiple of a buffer size or something.) Incidentally, what I said about 4.8 being ok wasn't 100% true. The @images I used, commented out in what I posted, run into your 2007-03-18 cm_image filename malloc fix. (But the workaround is simple enough, don't use the filename extension arg in info mode.) Blame it on glibc.
