    ./bibtex.test: syntax error at line 237: `n=$' unexpected

Thanks for the report.  These are bugs in the test scripts rather than
anything in the package itself.  You can just ignore them.

I think I've fixed them for the next release, if you feel like trying
the development code in CVS.  (Or I hope to make a pretest on the way to
another release in the not-impossibly-distant future.)
