My build system does not support building from tarballs - I want to review source code changes going into the operating system. So rather than rely on diffs of tarballs, version control makes sense. Also for storing source code corresponding to the binaries I build (as is required by the GPL) a series of tarballs is just significantly less efficient than using version control. I actually created a mirror of texinfo CVS into git for this purpose, since honestly it's 2012 and CVS is just really, really bad... https://github.com/cgwalters/texinfo-git-mirror So basically - I don't want tarballs, can you please consider the configure option? Thanks!
