Hi guys! I installed xboard along with the stockfish engine on a fresh Linux Mint 19.2 system recently. When trying to start stockfish (or any other engine) I got a 'broken pipe' error stopping xboard. Under MX Linux 18.3 I got the same error.
After some time I found out that the package polyglot was missing! After I installed it, everything works well. You should definitely inform the relevant distros to bundle polyglot with xboard. Cheers, Wolfgang
