Summary: U-Boot on Bv4 lags at poweron
Product: OpenMoko
Version: unspecified
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: u-boot
AssignedTo: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

When I turn on Bv4, I first see the backlight being turned on, then I see 1
second full white, then the vibrator pulse and the splash screen kicks in.
On Bv3 all this happens instantaneously.

Further experimentation indicates that it's just that the backlight goes on even
if I press the power on button for shorter than 3 seconds.

suspend still not working for me w/ Bv4 and 2.6.20.7-moko9, u-boot 200704141355.
To reproduce:
hold power button for 1 second, choose 'lock' from popup-menu (which calls apm
-s)
Behaviour:
screen changes VT, cursor keeps blinking for 2 seconds, screen changes back to X

To ease developing gsm-aware applications on x86, we desperately need a
passthrough mode in u-boot. We are aware that it's not the proper place for it
in general, but an ad-hoc solution in form of a u-boot command would be much
appreciated!

[This e-mail has been automatically generated.]
You have one or more bugs assigned to you in the Bugzilla
bugsystem (http://bugzilla.openmoko.org/cgi-bin/bugzilla/) that require
attention.
All of these bugs are in the NEW state, and have not been touched
in 7 days or more. You need to take a look at them, and
decide on an initial action.
Generally, this means one of three things:
(1) You decide this bug is really quick to deal with (like, it's INVALID),
and so you get rid of it immediately.
(2) You decide the bug doesn't belong to you, and you reassign it to someone
else. (Hint: if you don't know who to reassign it to, make sure that
the Component field seems reasonable, and then use the "Reassign bug to
owner of selected component" option.)
(3) You decide the bug belongs to you, but you can't solve it this moment.
Just use the "Accept bug" command.
To get a list of all NEW bugs, you can use this URL (bookmark it if you like!):
http://bugzilla.openmoko.org/cgi-bin/bugzilla/buglist.cgi?bug_status=NEW&[EMAIL
PROTECTED]
Or, you can use the general query page, at
http://bugzilla.openmoko.org/cgi-bin/bugzilla/query.cgi.
Appended below are the individual URLs to get to all of your NEW bugs that
haven't been touched for a week or more.
You will get this message once a day until you've dealt with these bugs!

i've not yet tried apm emulation at all.
Can you please try manually using
# echo "mem" > /sys/power/state
from a ssh-over-usb-ethernet session?
this works fine here. I'm not asking as an excuse, but just to verify that your
board suspends/resumes the same like mine does.
Please note that you CANNOT have the debug connector/jtag connected while
suspend/resume, it will break completely in this case.

yes, known issue. some gpio is probably initialized the wrong way. seems to be
related to 'neo1973 backlight off' not working on Bv4 in u-boot.
Easy to fix, will look at it later today.
