mh, when was this bug last observed? I haven't seen this bug reproduce on my
system[s] so far. Can you please elaborate on which u-boot version?

Looks like a controller/driver problem. I haven't had time to get intimate with
it yet, but I'll look closer at this as I do.

see attachement. What i did was:
calling power on
entering pin
trying to autoregister and then dial.
somehow the gsmd got stuck and/or started to confuse the buffers, e.g. see all
the "unsoliticed response to command 'foo'" messages, where 'foo' is not
completely visible, but the first two characters are truncated.

ok, the 2 command truncation may be intended to strip out the "AT", however
something still doesn't look right or else we should have a carrier shouldn't
we?

I'll add a second attachement of a run using libgsmd-tool interactive mode
(which has much slower timing) -- this time it works fine, although the commands
sent to libgsmd are the same as in non-interactive mode (using openmoko-dialer).

Summary: mainmenu does not handle startup-notification

Applications started by matchbox-desktop showing a small spinning hourglass in
the panel (openmoko-panel-startup). Helpful to indicate a application is really
starting when having a long starting time.
This does not work if applications are started from mainmenu.
This is due to mainmenu lacking launcher support for libstartup-notification.
I'll add this later.

Okay, I have a new u-boot (rev2040) on it.
Still the old kernel, because the new prebuilt kernels are buggy at the
backlight (new bug on its way).
I have reduced the Priority to P4, because this is now a "wait for it to happen
again".
I leave the bug open for a while (two weeks - month), so people can look at the
Oops and maybe make the kernel more stable in this area.

Just as a quick notice:
The basic thingy seems to work on GTA01Bv03:
echo some >/dev/watchdog
and it reboots after about ten seconds.
(this already halped me more than once now)
I personally would recommend power-off instead of a reboot though.
If there is a problem (why would the watchdog be triggered otherwise), there is
a chance, that this problem comes after the reboot again, ending in an endless
reboot loop. When the user notices it, the battery is maybe already empty.
powering the phone off on the other hand leaves the user with a charged device,
which makes debugging easier for him/her.
Just my 2 cent.

Summary: backlight does not work on GTA01Bv03 any more
Product: OpenMoko
Version: unspecified
Platform: Neo1973
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: kernel
AssignedTo: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hardware: GTA01Bv03
u-Boot: 2040
Kernel: uImage-2.6-moko10-r0_0_2006_0-fic-gta01.bin
With the above mentioned kernel from buildhost, the backlight does not work any
more.
/sys/class/backlight/gta01-bl exists, and the files do exist also.
But despite the backlight being on in reality, the (actual_)brightness files say
0. and echoing "1000" into them doesn't change anything.

Actually the application seems to resize. However to a size where it is
unusable unless you resize the bottom.
Anyway the issue with having to select Unnamed after adding a new contact to
edit the info still exists. I don't look forward to having to scroll down a
hundered entries to start editing unnamed.
So do whatever seems best for you, close the bug or change the issue at hand.
Thanks.

[This e-mail has been automatically generated.]
You have one or more bugs assigned to you in the Bugzilla
bugsystem (http://bugzilla.openmoko.org/cgi-bin/bugzilla/) that require
attention.
All of these bugs are in the NEW state, and have not been touched
in 7 days or more. You need to take a look at them, and
decide on an initial action.
Generally, this means one of three things:
(1) You decide this bug is really quick to deal with (like, it's INVALID),
and so you get rid of it immediately.
(2) You decide the bug doesn't belong to you, and you reassign it to someone
else. (Hint: if you don't know who to reassign it to, make sure that
the Component field seems reasonable, and then use the "Reassign bug to
owner of selected component" option.)
(3) You decide the bug belongs to you, but you can't solve it this moment.
Just use the "Accept bug" command.
To get a list of all NEW bugs, you can use this URL (bookmark it if you like!):
http://bugzilla.openmoko.org/cgi-bin/bugzilla/buglist.cgi?bug_status=NEW&[EMAIL
PROTECTED]
Or, you can use the general query page, at
http://bugzilla.openmoko.org/cgi-bin/bugzilla/query.cgi.
Appended below are the individual URLs to get to all of your NEW bugs that
haven't been touched for a week or more.
You will get this message once a day until you've dealt with these bugs!
