Harald,

I would like to have this board shot professionally in the same setup as the
other shots. I will ask Liane to help with this.

Right -- although this has to be taken into account when doing Edje layouts --
however in that case the designer himself will be the one using his images
in "code", so he'll need to supply the images that way anyways.

------- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2007-09-08 15:11 -------
Indeed, booting without "console=ttySAC0,115200", I can't reproduce the crashes
anymore. I'm testing on uImage-2.6.22.5-moko11-r2-fic-gta01.bin and
OpenMoko-openmoko-devel-image-glibc-ipk-P1-September-Snapshot-20070906-fic-gta01.rootfs.jffs2
.

With "console=ttySAC0,115200", it was enough to wait for the booting to finish
and run echo "0" > /sys/bus/platform/devices/gta01-pm-gsm.0/power_on . It would
take the kernel a second or two to freeze after that (assumingly when it first
tried to write to the console). Now, I can run that and restart gsmd and
xserver-noxdm and successfully shut down the phone unlike before.

Yes. Two reasons:

a) Better use of screen real estate: A slightly condensed font means more text
fits on the screen while still retaining good readability.
b) Branding: A unique font is an important part of the product branding.

See for instance what Nokia does on their tablets.

That looks like a bug in your native toolchain. I'm afraid there's not much we
can do about that.

Fix GSMD_FD_WRITE setting on atcmd_submit()

Simpler patch, which fixes the bug which caused undesired pipelining of the AT
commands.

Works as well as the previous patch on this testcase.

Debugging patch

This patch adds extra debugging showing exactly what was sent to the modem
(except for the \r, which isn't checked at all), and most importantly, when, to
help with debugging.

Fix gsmd getting "stuck"

This last patch fixes the remaining problem: on reset, when receiving the
"AT-Command Interpreter ready", gsmd was getting stuck. The cause was that the
ATZ command was not being removed from g->busy_atcmds, meaning GSMD_FD_WRITE
would not get set again. To compound the problem, in that case it never even
reached the line which set the flag.

This patch does the following:
1. Checks for g->busy_atcmds on atcmd_submit() (same as previous patch, which
this one obsoletes)
2. Shuffles the order of the first few code blocks on ml_parse(), so cmd will
get set before checking for the interpreter ready condition
3. When getting "AT-Command Interpreter ready", generates a fake ERROR response
and goes directly to final_cb; this runs all normal processing for the command
(which can depend on the command's callback), dequeues it, and sets
GSMD_FD_WRITE if needed.

Finding the problem would be much harder without the debugging patch; I would
suggest also applying it (or a less kludgy version of it) too, to help
debugging future problems.

As an aside: with this patch, there's no need for all the powering off/on/off/on
dance on /etc/init.d/gsmd, which helps avoid hitting bug 788.

There seems to still be a problem with the gsmd/modem interaction, saw the
following once (with my patch and powering off/resetting the modem disabled on
/etc/init.d/gsmd):

The other times I tried, it worked fine (unlike before, where it reliably didn't
work).
