The openmoko-mediaplayer (openmoko-mediaplayer2 - 0.1.0+svnr2952-r1) stops/exits
if i create a new playlist and the directory /home/root/playlists does not
exists.
If i create the directory by hand this works.

Summary: finished usb host patch

I took the s3c2410-usb-switch patch in svn, added in the changes from the
mailing list, and tweaked it to read values from its /sys knob properly (it
wouldn't take trailing newlines). I then added it to
openembedded/packages/linux/linux-openmoko_2.6.22.5.bb:
SRC_URI += "file://s3c2410-usb-switch.patch;patch=1"
and rebuilt the kernel. Now I can turn my neo's usb port into a functioning
usb host! I've already tested a usb mouse, keyboard, and mass storage with
success.
I'm not sure if this is really the right way to add a patch to the build
system, but it works. The actual file has to be
in 'openembedded/packages/linux/linux-openmoko/'.
Since I don't have svn access, and wouldn't know where to put this patch if I
did, I'm filing this as a bug for someone who knows what they're doing.
Hopefully we can all enjoy plugging random usb devices into our phones.

yes, you might well have downgraded your u-boot. AFAIR the 2007.2 developers
froze the patchset, while the 2007.1 continues to build the current u-boot head
+ patchset head.

1) in a bettery without coulomb counter there is no way to obtain battery charge
percentage
2) if the battery is discharged too much, we cannot even start u-boot but will
have to do 100ma charging until u-boot can be charged
3) solving this properly will require lots of time and lots of measurements, as
well as fixing all current leaks caused by unclean driver shutdown, etc.
otherwise the battery will continue to discharge when the device is powered off
any way.
all in all, I don't really see anyone looking into this issue anytime soon. it
requires all our resources to only get the basics working. anything else is a
nice disctraction for some future time.

If you add a new event in openmoko-dates you are presented 3 unlabled text input
fields. Once you focus one of these widgets and then focus another the
description of this field is displayed in there as grey text. It would be nice
if the description would be there from the start.

Proposed patch to disable/enable flowcontrol as GSM is disabled/enabled
This proposed patch changes the behavior of serial port 0 on the GTA01 device
such that hardware flow control is not permitted when in console mode, and
permitted when switched to the GSM modem.

Summary: Neo is bricked when not on debug board

After updating the kernel and rootfs about two weeks ago, I left the Neo on and
connected to my computer USB port. It was not connected to the GSM network (no
SIM installed.) About a week or so later, I noticed the unit was off and tried
to power it up. No luck. Battery showed to be completely discharged, so I
tried my spare (and known to be fully charged battery.) Unit came up and tried
to boot but failed during the last of the boot procedure (about a minute later.)
Unit was now dead and the only sign of life was seen if I removed the battery
and left the unit unpowered for a long time and then reinserted the battery and
tried to power up. I would occasionally (about 1 in 3 times) see a bright
screen flash, usually all white and then nothing. This would occur about 30
seconds after hitting the power button.
I connected the Neo to the debug board, and found that when powered by the debug
board, it would come up and all functions seemed to work. I left it on the
debug board for a few hours and then tried the stand-alone power again and it
failed.
Works on debug board power, fails on own power.
While connected to debug board, I reflashed with current (as of 9/12) u-boot,
kernel and rootfs in case there was some latent (and unreported) bug in my
previous flash (first time I actually flashed the u-boot.) This made no
difference - it still works on debug board and fails on stand-alone power.
My unit model is 70-7GTA01B-00001
S/N is 8A7507575

Proposed new patch is attached.
This proposed patch changes the behavior of serial port 0 on the GTA01 device
such that hardware flow control is not permitted when in console mode, and
permitted when switched to the GSM modem. If an application (such as gsmd)
turns on hardware flow control, the operation will succeed as expected.
However, the serial driver will only actually enable hardware flow control when
the serial port is switched to the GSM modem.
The behavior is exactly as if the hardware RTS line on the console port was in
the on state (as opposed to the current GTA01 hardware, where the RTS line is
off.
This patch resolves the issue originally reported by this bug. It also resolves
potential issues that might arise from mis-use or operator error, such as
starting gsmd while the GSM modem is not turned on and enabled (currently, this
action will lock up the device if the user does not use the /etc/init.d/gsmd
script to start/stop the gsmd service.)
[Re: Harald's comment #18: Changing the console to register/unregister may
resolve the issue by properly resetting the flow control state of the port when
the GSM modem changes state, and if it works, it is a fairly simple solution
that will address most cases. However, this proposed patch also protects in the
case where flow control is enabled but the GSM modem has not been switched, and
also permits the serial port to be switched between the modem and the console
and back again without loss of any port settings (consider the ability to switch
on the fly to print a kernel "oops" output and switch back again, without gsmd
noticing anything more than a few dropped characters).]

The dialogs operate correctly in spite of the incorrect icon usage.
Verified in several applications: epdfview, abiword, leafpad, and others.
