I spotted this starting up during a reboot -if action, it goes nuts early
in U-Boot and stays that way the whole session.
Mickey, do you tend to use reboot / shutdown or the hard reset button on
the debug board?

Never mind, resetting either way going through current U-Boot you have a
50:50 chance to get "insane USB device" mode for the whole of the session.
Just stick a scope probe on say D+ and keep resetting a couple of seconds
after the red light flashes briefly, you will see 1ms period spikes on a
good boot and spamming 6MHz madness on a bad one, with ~50% probability
per-boot seen here tonight.
It's a U-Boot issue.

I cannot find the confusing text that I thought I saw in the wiki last
weekend, so the documentation doesn't need to be corrected.
Someone should add werner's comment to the wiki somewhere (if it's not
there), and close the bug.

I tried the solution from the bug-report with no luck
I tried the force-downgrade suggested by DooD of
http://buildhost.openmoko.org/daily-

and http://buildhost.openmoko.org/daily-
feed/armv4t/illume_0.0+svnr152-r6_armv4t.ipk
also without luck
I keep getting a lot of /etc/init.d/rc: line 167: splash-write not found
and /etc/init.d/rc: line 171: splash-write not found
It just says "Starting Xserver"
