Comment(by raster):

 installing gdb and getting a backtrace when the white box is up would be
 helpful... other than that i'd need a RELIABLE way to reproduce... i have
 yet to see the white box of death :(

Comment(by lpotter):

 Yes, this is mostly a Troll/nokia issue. A few things could resolve.

 1) put qtopia-xx1 and qtopia in different places (./configure -prefix).
 2) could better remove opkg packages in flash images TT releases.
 3) package qtopia in opkg (will happen in 4.4) with proper conflicts

Comment(by yarikoptic):

 I want to complement to lpotter's words: /opt is commonly used in
 distributions to carry 3d party applications, ie which are not a part of
 the distribution. Thus indeed native qtopia is shipped 'correctly' by
 lpotter under /opt. OM does provide a distribution, thus it would be much
 better if none of the OMs packages installs under /opt, but rather uses
 /usr/ hierarchy (e.g. /usr/lib/qtopia).
 That can help to avoid similar issues in the future.

 For users to resolve the situation if you want to run native qtopia:
 1. remove all qtopia packages installed from OM's repositories:
 opkg list_installed | awk '{print $1;}' | xargs opkg remove
 NB typing from memory thus could be incorrect. you might also need to
 force removal disrespecting dependencies

 2. to make sure that all libraries links are reincarnated correctly --
 reinstall /opt/Qtopa using freshly provided "binary update" script

Comment:

 Confirmed this also occurs in Om2008.8. I believe it's displaying and
 hiding the same contacts every time.

Comment(by thomasb):

 It seems to work with my T-Mobile SIM (although it takes a minute or so
 after X is up until the PIN dialog appears), but it doesn't seem to work
 with my Vodafone SIM. I'm attaching some log data.

 I just booted my FR using the NAND uboot and heart loud interferences in
 my FM radio which is at a distance of 1.5-2 meter.

 looks like I should have the FM radio running more often to check for EMV
 problems ;-)

 Hi there,

 after an "opkg upgrade" on 2008.8 yesterday, my Freerunner does not finish
 booting anymore. It prints out "Starting X-Server", and then, endless
 "AR6000 scan complete: 0" messages. From time and time, an "WMI event ID:
 0xxxx..." is added.

 What can I do do get into the system again?

 Thanks, schneck
