#1812: GTA01 QVGA framebuffer has lines and bad colour

Type: defect | Status: new

Component: hardware | Version: GTA01Bv4
Severity: normal | Keywords:

To reproduce, get a GTA01, ssh into it and run these commands:-
chvt 4 && echo qvga-normal >
/sys/devices/platform/spi_s3c24xx_gpio.1/spi0.0/state && fbset qvga
The display will become black with some light lines on it and a line down
the middle. If an image is displayed the colours will be wrong.
I have tried the fb.modes from stefan, but this did not make any
difference. The fbset I am using says it is Version 2.1 (23/06/1999)

Comment(by Rorschach):
No you missunderstand this. app-restarter is a process running the whole
time which checks if qpe is running. If it's not, app-restarter shows the
above string in an error-message and asks if it should restart qpe.
So seeing this process in ps aux is no bug, it's a feature ;)
Just check if qpe is running with: ps aux|grep qpe and you'll see it is
there.

I have same problems on OM2008.8 and lastest FSO (20080812). I'm using
lastest u-boot and uImage.

Comment(by usbhostman):
The fb.modes file says this:-
# Timings for GTA01 VGA and QVGA mode
mode "480x640"
# D: 26.000 MHz, H: 43.334 kHz, V: 65.657 Hz
geometry 480 640 480 640 16
timings 38461 104 8 2 16 8 2
accel false
endmode
mode "vga"
# D: 26.000 MHz, H: 43.334 kHz, V: 65.657 Hz
geometry 480 640 480 640 16
timings 38461 104 8 2 16 8 2
accel false
endmode
mode "240x320"
# D: 8.475 MHz, H: 24.635 kHz, V: 75.569 Hz
geometry 240 320 240 320 16
timings 118000 88 8 2 2 8 2
accel false
endmode
mode "qvga"
# D: 8.475 MHz, H: 24.635 kHz, V: 75.569 Hz
geometry 240 320 240 320 16
timings 118000 88 8 2 2 8 2
accel false
endmode
but if I change to qvga mode fbset says:-
mode "240x320-204"
# D: 25.000 MHz, H: 69.444 kHz, V: 204.248 Hz
geometry 240 320 240 320 16
timings 40000 104 8 2 16 8 2
rgba 5/11,6/5,5/0,0/0
endmode
while in vga mode it says:-
mode "480x640-63"
# D: 25.000 MHz, H: 41.667 kHz, V: 63.131 Hz
geometry 480 640 480 640 16
timings 40000 104 8 2 16 8 2
rgba 5/11,6/5,5/0,0/0
endmode
So it seems as if fbset is ill. I am using FSO milestone 2.

enlightenment shipped with Om2008.8 eats a lot of CPU (average 6%), and
seems to do some "stupid" things.
This is a 10s run of strace on the process, showing just the summary:
# time strace -c -p 1419
Process 1419 attached - interrupt to quit
Process 1419 detached
% time seconds usecs/call calls errors syscall

This makes about 180 syscalls/second.
But the most "stupid" one is enlightnment stat'ing
"/usr/share/enlightenment/data/themes/illume.edj" about 6 times per
second. Also it iterates over USB devices, but I am not sure what for.
These dumps were made with Neo idling.
Is this an enlightenment defect/feature, or Om build of enlightenment ?

Reporter: lock | Owner: julian_chu

I use http://buildhost.openmoko.org/daily-feed repository and tray install
mplayer (opkg install mplayer). Mplayer package install properitly, but
after executing mplayer command i get:
{{{
mplayer: error while loading shared libraries: libXv.so.1: cannot open

}}}
so, i install ldd tool, and check what else is missing:

I fix'ed that installing packages (libxv1 and libmp3lame0) from angstrom-
distribution.org. But if mplayer package is in official repository
dependent packages must be also and must be installed automaticaly.
