Comment:

 Julian please take a look. I don't know on which interfaces it is
 listening but I'm fine with the default of only using "local" interfaces
 by default. Make sure that the configfiles are marked as conf files so we
 don't destroy user configs..

Comment(by zecke):

 Well. Do you run qpe? In that case some of the modem output will be
 catched by this process and you need to kill it before you can access the
 modem yourself. Other explanations include that you need to power on the
 device...

 Enabling the multiplexer for Qtopia is on the list of things to do.

 by 'in on the list to do' you mean its possible for users to do it , or
 you , developers had to do it ? is this possible to use gsm0710muxd ?

 i guess this is no longer a bug report bug feature request , if you have
 time please answer my question with some detail so i could be able to
 update Wiki .

 In http://git.openmoko.org/?p=om-locations.git;a=blob;f=tools/om-
 locations-map-pack.c;h=4fefe1181db9450b64ce48c6a9d23b7242d73ca3;hb=HEAD

 function fetch_sched() may call fetch_completion() (in line 351), while
 function fetch_completion() may call fetch_sched() (in line 312).

 This leads to infinite recursion if the "circumstances" are right.

 One of these circumstances is if om-locations-map-pack is run over a
 sufficiently large cache directory (with more than 2000 tiles).

 Thus, this bug prevents incremental downloading of reasonably sized tile
 sets (e.g. a tile set of a larger city).

Comment(by octavsly):

 Investigated this a bit.
 Spotted enlightenment process that consumed 5% of the CPU. I killed it.
 The whole X died. Restarted and everything worked fine again.

 It would be nice to have for, the time being, a button to restart the X
 server.
